Perform regular online check

Configuration in DOC -> Security Controls -> Agent settings -> Network -> Online test

You can define how your DriveLock Agents react when they are offline for a longer period of time, i.e. when they cannot communicate with a DriveLock Enterprise Service (DES). This allows you to enforce stricter security settings for agents that remain offline for too long.

To do so, enable performing online checks in a policy. This way, a warning will be displayed after a certain period of time if an agent is offline, for example. At the same time, you can also specify that the policy where this is configured will not be applied once the agent has been offline for a certain number of days.

Below is an example of a use case:

Two policies are assigned to a DriveLock Agent.

  • Policy 1 has a higher priority and contains strict settings for using USB flash drives. These are blocked in general.

  • In policy 2, you allow certain USB flash drives to be used and set the following settings:

    • Perform regular online check: yes

    • Wipe policy when computer is offline: yes

    • Days offline before policy wipe: 10

    • Show user notification after policy wipe: yes

On the 11th day, policy 2 is deleted and the end user can no longer use any USB flash drives as only policy 1 is now applied.

Once the computer reconnects to the server online, policy 2 will be applied again.

You can also specify these settings in the DriveLock Management Console (DMC) in Global configuration -> Network profiles -> Settings -> Perform regular online check (policy wipe).
