Levels of child processes checked for trusted processes
This setting defines how many levels of child processes are checked if a process is identified as trusted. It determines whether subprocesses started by trusted processes should also be verified and to what depth.
How it works
If a process is classified as trusted during the startup of the DriveLock Enterprise Service (see the Trusted processes setting), DriveLock can also validate its downstream child processes.
This option determines how deeply this validation should be performed within the process hierarchy.
-
0 = Only the main (parent) process is checked.
-
1–10 = The specified number of subprocess levels will also be validated.
Example
If the process SoftwareUpdater.exe is classified as trusted and this setting is set to 2, DriveLock will validate not only SoftwareUpdater.exe but also all directly and indirectly spawned processes up to the second child level.
Note: For a process to be considered trusted, an appropriate rule must still exist. This setting affects only the depth of validation, not the classification itself.
