Schema extensions
Configuration in DOC: Settings
-> Backend -> Schema extensions
Purpose
Schema extensions allow existing object definitions (schemas) to be expanded with additional properties. A schema represents a specific object class in DriveLock, such as Computer, User, Drive, Device, Software, or Binaries.
Functionality
In the Backend -> Schema extensions area, select the object you want in the Schema field. New properties can then be added for this schema, or existing ones can be edited. The properties are permanently assigned to the schema and can be used as table columns, in filters (e.g., as filter criteria in dynamic computer groups), in lists, and in reports.
Each schema extension adds new columns to the underlying schema.
These columns contain structured data fields used to represent additional information, such as location, license binding, or device group.
Schema extensions are managed on a tenant basis.
Roles and permissions
Two permission settings are relevant when working with schema extensions:
-
Manage schema extensions: Allows creating, editing, and deleting properties within a schema.
-
Set custom properties: Allows using and assigning defined properties in other modules.
