Using external links in the detail view
Overview
The External links widget allows you to add references to internal or external web pages directly within the detail view of an object (e.g., a computer). These links can then be accessed directly from the DriveLock Operations Center (DOC).
Requirements
To create and manage external links, the role permission 'Manage external links' is required.
Displaying external links in the detail view
By default, the External links section is not visible in the detail view. To enable it:
-
Open the detail view of an object (e.g., a computer).
-
Click the configuration menu (Configure detail view) in the upper-right corner.
-
In the left area of the dialog, search for External links and move the entry to the My selected widgets area.
-
Save the configuration.
Adding a new external link
-
Open the detail view of the object and the External links section.
-
Click the
button. -
Enter the display name and URL, optionally also a favicon URL and variables for dynamic links.
-
Click Save.
Executing external links
External links can be opened directly by clicking the desired link in the detail view.
Additionally, in many list views (e.g., Events), a context menu is available for linked objects. Right-clicking the object reveals the External links option, which can also be used to open the associated links without navigating to the detail view.
Additional features
Context Menu Access: External links can now be executed directly from an object’s context menu, allowing for faster access without opening the detail view.
Import and Export: External links can be imported and exported, making it easier to transfer, back up, or reuse link configurations across systems or environments.
