Updating the central DES
Important notes on updating:
-
When updating the DriveLock Enterprise Services (DES) from version 2021.1 to higher versions, please note the following: Before you start the update, you need a valid license including maintenance. You can renew them in your current DriveLock Operations Center (DOC). If you have any questions about your license, please contact DriveLock Support.
-
If you are updating from version 2021.2 (or earlier), please update to version 2024.2 first, and then update to a newer version.
Please do the following:
-
First, update the program files. To do so, execute the
DES X64.msidirectly. Alternatively, start theDLSetup.exedirectly. The DriveLock Management Console may also be updated during this process. -
After updating the program files, the DriveLock Server installation wizard starts automatically.
-
First enter the connection data for the database server.
-
Next, select the option Check / update an existing DriveLock database to update the database. If the database does not have the required compatibility level, you can update it in a further step. If the compatibility level of the database cannot be checked, an option is available to continue the installation anyway.
Please note that you must have the appropriate permissons to make changes to the database.
-
In the next step, select whether you want to create a new supervisor account. If required, check the relevant option and then enter the supervisor's account in the following dialog. The supervisor role has increased permissions (e.g. permission to change the infrastructure or configuration of one (or more) tenants).
If necessary, also check the option Backup databases before update.
The Start database maintenance after update option is now activated by default. This means that the database is automatically maintained after a successful update, which contributes to better performance in the long term. This option may be deactivated if required.
-
Finally, a summary is displayed. Click Apply to finish.
