User interface of the Linux agent

As of version 2025.1, the Drivelock Linux Agent has an icon in the taskbar that can be used to execute the following functions:

  • Request unlock

End users on the Drivelock Linux Agent can now request unlocking of locked devices and drives. To do so, the user simply selects the "Request unlock" option for the device via the DriveLock icon in the taskbar. The user has to enter a reason for the request before it can be sent. Once approved by the administrator in the DOC, the requested device can be used on the DriveLock Agent with the next configuration update.

To display this icon, the Gnome Shell KStatusNotifierItem/AppIndicator extension has to be pre-installed and active in the system. Background: Gnome-based desktop environments normally do not display taskbar icons by default (Ubuntu >= 22.04 is an exception). The taskbar icons must be activated via the Gnome extension: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/615/appindicator-support/
